First Mover
Focus areas
For Local Motors Berlin GmbH, the focus here is on how a driverless "people mover" can help supplement public transportation to close gaps and thus significantly increase accessibility and convenience for users.
The specific goal is to test Local Motors’s "Olli" prototype in a real urban environment. With the field test, Local Motors is gaining initial experience under real, yet protected conditions, which can be directly incorporated into the micro-series production that is starting up in parallel at the Berlin site.
- Testing autonomous minibus shuttles as on-demand transportation.
- Facilitation and acceleration of routes, e.g. in the transport of visitors and employees, but also the fine distribution of consignments of goods.
- Last mile: Connection to a train station or an important public transport stop. The automatically scheduled system works either with a timetable or on demand, and additional passengers can board the train on the way if required.
- Intelligent fleet management in the smart grid.
